And because the news media and popular culture focus so much on the crime and the culprit, the steady and essential work of our law enforcement officers is often ignored or taken for granted.
But starting today, there is a great new online resource that will change that: www.LawEnforcementMuseum.org – the newly redesigned website of the first-ever National Law Enforcement Museum.
More than just a source of information, this new website previews the whole Museum experience, three years before its scheduled opening in Washington, DC, in 2011. Visitors will get a taste of what the Museum has to offer, from a 3-D virtual tour of the planned space, to online galleries, and project news and milestones. And as the Museum continues to take shape, the Museum website will grow with new features and content added.

Take a walk through the Museum using our virtual tour. Experience the planned 95,000 square feet of space in this 3-D video that explores the Museum’s extraordinary underground structure and interactive exhibitions.
Get details on the Museum’s main galleries. From the “Reel to Real” gallery that explores how pop culture influences public perceptions of law enforcement, to life in an officer’s shoes in the “Being an Officer” gallery, to the taming of the Wild West in the 1800s and the fight against global terrorism today in the “History of Law Enforcement” gallery – see how the Museum will tell the rich and rewarding story of American law enforcement.

Twenty years after the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial was dedicated in 1991, the National Law Enforcement Museum will open its doors to the public in 2011. As of today, the Museum’s “A Matter of Honor” Campaign has raised approximately $34 million of the $80 million needed to build this world-class Museum.
